Hard Water
What is hard water?
Hard water contains higher levels of dissolved minerals, primarily calcium and magnesium. These minerals occur naturally as water moves through soil and rock. While safe to use, hard water can leave residue on surfaces, in plumbing, and on your skin and hair over time.
How does hard water affect skin and hair?
Hard water can leave a mineral film on the skin and scalp, making it harder to rinse away cleanser and shampoo completely. Over time, this buildup may contribute to dryness, irritation, dullness, and a tight feeling after showering. Hair can feel heavier, less smooth, and more prone to breakage when mineral residue accumulates.
Is hard water common in Australia?
Yes. Many regions across Australia experience moderate to high mineral content in their water supply. The exact level varies by location, but hard water is common, particularly in regional and mining areas.
Will I notice a difference straight away?
Many customers report their skin feeling softer and their hair lighter after the first few washes. For others, improvements become more noticeable over a few weeks as mineral buildup gradually reduces and your routine begins to work more effectively.
The Ngilla Flow Filter
What does the Ngilla Flow filter remove?
Ngilla Flow is designed to reduce chlorine and filter common impurities found in shower water. Its multi-stage filtration system helps minimise mineral residue and support a cleaner, more balanced rinse for skin and hair.
How long does each cartridge last?
Each refill cartridge is designed to last approximately 3 months, depending on water quality and usage. Homes with higher mineral content may require more frequent replacement.
When should I replace my refill?
For consistent filtration, we recommend replacing your refill every 3 months. If you notice changes in water pressure, scent, or how your rinse feels, it may be time for a replacement.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
By reducing chlorine and impurities, Ngilla Flow supports a gentler shower experience. Many customers with sensitive or reactive skin choose filtered water to minimise dryness and irritation. If you have a diagnosed skin condition, consult your healthcare professional for personalised advice.
Does it reduce chlorine?
Yes. The filtration media is designed to reduce chlorine commonly found in treated tap water, helping to minimise that dry, tight feeling after showering.
Installation & Fit
Will it fit my shower?
Ngilla Flow is compatible with most standard Australian shower fittings. It connects between your existing shower arm and shower head in minutes. If your outlet sits very close to the wall, an adaptor may be required.
Do I need tools to install it?
No tools are typically required. The filter can be installed by hand. Simply unscrew your shower head, attach the filter, and reattach the shower head.
Can I travel with it?
Yes. The compact design makes it easy to remove and take with you. Whether staying interstate or overseas, you can continue filtering your shower water wherever compatible fittings are available.
Care & Disposal
How do I replace the cartridge?
Unscrew the filter housing, remove the used cartridge, insert your new refill, and securely reassemble the unit. Replacement takes only a few minutes and does not require tools.
How do I dispose of the used cartridge?
Used cartridges can be placed in general household waste. Always check your local council guidelines, as disposal recommendations may vary by region.
Is the packaging recyclable?
Our packaging is designed with simplicity and minimal waste. Outer cartons are recyclable through standard kerbside recycling. Please separate components and check your local recycling guidelines.
